Do You Support A "Cry-It-Out" Method?

In a word, NO! Cry it out, also known as the extinction method, is a sleep training technique that involves putting your baby in their crib fully awake and allowing her to fuss or cry until she falls asleep — without your help. Our method provides you with techniques and strategies that ensure you’re always able to respond to your child’s needs in some meaningful capacity, reinforcing that you’re always there for them if and when needed.

Will This Work For My Family?

We will achieve three main milestones within two weeks. First, your child is sleeping for longer stretches throughout the night. We will achieve age-appropriate day naps to promote sleep through the night and make bedtimes a more enjoyable and efficient experience for the whole family. If we haven’t been able to achieve these milestones, we’ll give you the option to extend the support for one week to help your child reach these goals. Your commitment We take our responsibility to you seriously. This is why we commit to you and your child. However, to be able to do right by you, we need your full support and dedication. We ask you to fully commit yourselves to the two weeks and implement all the sleep hygiene recommendations. Sometimes life gets in the way; you get sick, or your child gets sick. We understand, and we are here to support you. We will also allow you to pause and rejoin once during the two weeks for a maximum of four weeks.

I Sleep Trained At Bedtime, But My Child Still Wakes At Night. What Now?

As we’ve mentioned before, a bedtime sleep association is just one factor (albeit an important one) we consider when determining the cause of disrupted sleep. Therefore, when evaluating a child’s case, our experts look at various possible sleep disruptors, including the child’s schedule, daytime naps, the possibility of hunger, and the consistency to which the skills are applied throughout the night.

Do I have to sleep train to ensure my child gets enough sleep? Will my child be a lousy sleeper if I don’t sleep train?

Not necessarily! How well a child sleeps depends on many factors. One factor is how a child falls asleep at the beginning of the night. Some children fall asleep with parental help at the beginning of the night and still sleep well. However, in most cases where night waking is listed as a sleep issue, we find that eliminating parental help at bedtime considerably improves night waking.

Will sleep training damage my bond with my child?

Helping your child learn and maintain healthy sleep habits lovingly and mindfully is just one way to encourage a deep bond. No matter which settling technique you choose, we always encourage parents to use the pre-bedtime routine to snuggle up and enjoy their baby, including feeding or rocking - just not all the way to sleep. It’s normal for children to object when we change established routines; fussing and crying are often (though not always) part of the process when making changes. Our customised sleep plans offer many ways to reduce tears, so parents aren’t asked to go outside their comfort zones to effect change.

Should I sleep train by a certain age? Am I doomed if I wait to change our habits?

While some age groups present unique challenges, changing habits is never too late. We help children under seven years old change their routines and improve sleep.

What If I Want To Cancel?

You can cancel any time before your start date. You can also move your start date or postpone it for up to four weeks. If you cancel before your start date, we will issue a refund minus a fee of £100.

Isn’t it a myth that babies can self-soothe? All parents need to do is hold their babies more, right?

Nope. It’s not a myth. And while we’re all about cuddling your babies as much as possible, holding your baby to sleep every night can contribute to some brutal sleep deprivation once you’re beyond the newborn stage. That’s not good for anyone, especially parents dealing with postpartum depression or anxiety.
